Discover Berat — City of a Thousand Windows
A full-day journey from Tirana to one of Albania's most beautiful and historically significant cities. Berat is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its distinctive Ottoman-era houses stacked up the hillside with rows of large windows that inspired its nickname — the "City of a Thousand Windows."
On the way south, we stop in Belshi — the historic heart of the Dumrea region, known as one of the most beautiful pearls of the Mediterranean. A walk along the lake promenade, a coffee, and time to enjoy the panorama before continuing.
In Berat we visit the magnificent Berat Castle, built on a hill 187 metres high on the right bank of the Osum River. First built in the 4th century BC, expanded through Byzantine and Ottoman eras — its walls stretch 1,400 metres and enclose an entire living neighbourhood with Byzantine churches and Ottoman mosques.
